To be reappointed for a second term, you must fill out the volunteer form. A task force is an action-oriented membership group whose charge is to address specific goals, complete a specific task, or to consider a particular issue. There may be a designated time frame defined by the nature of the task or set forth in the function statement. Committee and task force charges and rosters are included under each committee and task force . To volunteer for a division or roundtable committee, please click on the appropriate divisions or round tables committee. Terms are staggered so vacancies do not result in an entire committee being replaced at one time.

The Membership Committee works with IFRT’s Board ala, divisions and round tables committee volunteer form and other IFRT committees to communicate the value of belonging to IFRT. Each priority group is headed by a priority group consultant, who acts as a liaison between the ALSC Board of Directors/Executive Committee and the committees/discussion groups within their priority group. The Intellectual Freedom Round Table (IFRT) provides a forum for the discussion of activities, programs, and problems in intellectual freedom of libraries and librarians. The IRRT promotes global interest in library issues, coordinates international ALA activities, develops programs supporting international objectives, and provides hospitality and information to foreign visitors. Committee reports are submitted to the executive board before Annual Conferences. Each committee posts their reports in their ALA Connect spaces. COO committee member’s initial term is for two years and may be reappointed for an additional two-year term.

Social Responsibilities Round Table Websites
The Rainbow Book List is created by the Rainbow Book List Committee of the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Round Table of the American Library Association. The LRRT aims to extend and improve library research, and to provide public program opportunities for describing and evaluating library research projects, and for disseminating their findings. Please note, members can only serve on up to three committees across all of ALA during any year. Appointments to ALA Standing committees are made by the ALA president-elect, with the advisement of the Committee on Appointments & Committee on Committees, which are both chaired by the President-elect.

In July/August, after being seated as President, the appointing officer fills the fall appointments which are the award and evaluation committees. Volunteer forms are collected and reviewed from the time the incoming president assumes office and throughout the entire term for new positions that will need to be filled as well as replacement positions. Clicking “Submit” on the review page enters your form in the database and creates a final receipt page which details your volunteer requests. Return to the form (another login may be required to reset the form) to make selections from your other membership groups.
Association groups who want to establish, discontinue or change their organizational structure or function within ALA must submit a proposal COO Action Request Form (DOC) to the Committee on Organization (COO). The Library Support Staff Round Table (LSSRT) focuses on library support staff—who support staff are and what we do—as well as developing skills and support programming for library support staff. The IFRT Members Community group is the central hub for discussion, library and events. It is visible to all ALA members but only IFRT members can participate in the conversation. The RMRT provides an avenue for retired or late-career members to maintain relationships, continue meaningful organizational involvement, and share sills and knowledge through mentorship. Through community, education, and advocacy, the MAGIRT leads and inspires information professionals in their work with map and geospatial information resources.
